“Elephants are unique, there’s not much more to say than that. We’ve been lucky enough to see them in the wild in Africa and nothing prepared us for the experience. I’ve tried to capture some of the scale and tenderness of the beautiful animals here, in a piece inspired by our experiences in Kenya about 10 years ago. This piece is pretty much completely done in biro, although I did use a small amount of white oil paint to lift the colour of the canvas a bit.”
