“Swans are ingrained in our culture, featuring regularly in myth and fairy tales, from the Ugly Duckling to Helen of Troy being fathered by Zeus appearing as a swan. In this oil painting I’ve tried to capture the lonely beauty of this wonderful bird, setting her amongst a dawn lit pond. The idea came to me after seeing such a lonely swan on a local walk.”
