“Bluebells are such a British spectacle, one I remember from my earliest childhood, playing in the local woods. I’m not sure I fully appreciated them at that age, but I certainly do now!
Here, I’ve partnered them with another of my favourite birds, the Blackbird. A regular visitor to gardens and woods alike it seemed the obvious choice for this enhanced view of a carpet of bluebells.
I’ve added texture to this canvas using a mixture of primer, polyfilla and sand. This adds a unique feel to the work that really enhances the painting. The painting itself is done in oil paints, to really create the bright colour these flowers give us every year.”
