Starting is often the hardest thing to do with these emails, but this time, that’s more true than ever. It’s incredible how much time we all spend talking about Covid-19; the extraordinary times we’re currently living through; the tragic experiences that some are having, for all sorts of reasons; the different ways communities are dealing with things around the world; how much PPE we need; will we ever get enough tests done; and yet I still don’t know what to say…
Maybe the only thing I can say is that I very sincerely hope and pray that you and all those you know are managing to keep safe and are able to cope with everything that’s going on.
New work
Speaking from a personal perspective, I’ve not managed to get much art done over the last month or so. The only piece I’ve done since my last update is the small sparrow piece below. I say only, but I really enjoyed doing it and am extremely happy with the result. I love these noisy little birds! Click on the image to find out more about him.

Events
I do, however, have some exciting online events coming up, the first of which is a kind of virtual art event held by Contemporary Art Fairs. It’s due to start on the 1st May, which isn’t far away, but I don’t have any more details yet. I’ll keep you posted though.
The next is really exciting. The David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition has moved exclusively online. It’s due to start on Monday the 11th May and will include an online event to celebrate the exhibition. Again, I’m not sure how this will work, but you’ll be the first to know!
Working life
Ironically, during this time of lockdown, I’m actually busier than ever, I’ve returned as a contractor to my old company. Everything is done from home, but it’s a return to the business world 4 days a week and then a couple of days on art. We are extraordinarily lucky as I can’t overstate how helpful this is at a time when pretty much all art events have been cancelled, apart from the couple of online experiments mentioned above.
Anyway we count ourselves as among the lucky ones and I hope that’s also true of you?
All the best and stay safe,
Cy
