One of my priorities for this project is to try and see as many of the huge variety of habitats our wonderful country has to offer as possible. That’s where Cresswell Foreshore comes in. It’s a reserve that covers an area of coastline between the dunes and the tidal boundary. When we arrived we had the unique (at least for us) experience of seeing snow on the sand dunes.

Meaning it’s an ever-changing habitat that is often under water. It was another beautiful day, full of sunlight and blue skies. However, it was also full of cold and wind, making for a stunningly beautiful and very cold walk along the beach to locate the reserve.

The beauty did outweigh the cold and there was also the promise of a warm cafe at the end of it to carry us on our way. There were also many birds either riding the waves, chilling out on the sand or running up and down by the water, which were an absolute joy to watch and turned out to be the highlight of the trip.

The rock pools created wonderful formations and areas of beauty, but the life the area supported held the most fascination for me.
