We had picked this reserve as the description had mentioned ancient Cornish hedgerows. These hedgerows are stone-faced banks that are filled with earth and have now become habitats in their own right. We wanted to see these things, they sounded fantastic!
When we got to the reserve, we followed the trail that had been very helpfully laid out by the trust, and I was on the lookout for the hedgerows and seemed to be struggling to find them.

That was until I realised they looked like raised earthworks that, when you looked closer, revealed the fact they were made from stone. These hedgerows now have ancient trees growing out of them, including one that was the most fantastically gnarled old holly tree.

The reserve had many different habitats including meadows, mixed woodland as well as my favourite the Cornish Hedgerows.
