The Southwest Coast Path is one of the best known national trails in the UK. It runs for 630 miles from Minehead to Poole Harbour, taking in some of the best coastlines our country has to offer. The path also happens to run straight through Kemyel Crease nature reserve. Which is a small patch of conifer woodland that stands out on the very open windy patch of coastline.

As we approached the reserve, we realised that you could also make out St Michael’s Mount in the distance, a stunning sight I have to say. It was a welcome break from the sun and wind walking under the canopy of trees and we were immediately at home amongst the trees and birdsong. It’s a beautiful little reserve, but it was busy with walkers, so we decided to stop for a while to see what we could see, just sitting quietly. It was the middle of the day, so, despite hearing lots of birds, none of them decided to show themselves, but we did see an extraordinary spider with an extra-long pair of front legs that it used to feel it’s way through the undergrowth.

Therefore, after 20 minutes, we decided to crack on and completed our walk through this beautiful little reserve.
