The Lake District
My wife and I recently went on a trip to the Lake District, somewhere we've both wanted to go for a long time. We'd been at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, that is now the Exhibition of Wildlife Art. The show is based relatively close to the Lake District, so we took advantage and stayed a few days.
A good friend of ours had said she wanted to have first dibs on any painting I did, specifically of the Langdale Pikes, and out of this came this commission. The work you see above was very much a collaboration. A painting I had wanted to do as soon as I saw the area and a place that was very special for Val, so capturing the essence of the area was essential.
In an e-mail, following Val's visit to see the work for the first time, she said:
"Just had to say again that I LOVE my painting and thank you so much for capturing my 'soul place' so perfectly."
